Research Education

Mentored Research Experience

University Student

The foundation of the AMPERE program is an intensive and rewarding 10-week individualized hypothesis or objectives-driven global health research experience. Mentors will include leading faculty at the LMIC site in collaboration with co-mentors at USA Institutions.

The experience will develop the trainee’s research skills, expand critical thinking abilities, develop team participation

and win-win collaboration skills, and facilitate the trainee’s ability to do independent research safely and to publish or present their work at AMPERE workshops during Global Health Catalyst summits, and other conferences. The program will provide a rich experience in the field of cutting-edge cancer research. The relevance of the topics of research carried out by mentors will ensure that all the trainees in the program will be exposed to the multi-faceted aspects of global health.

Complementary year-round virtual/online learning and mentoring for AMPERE

fellows

Couple Using Laptop

Complementary online learning modules will offer regular year-round activities leveraging technology platforms including virtual reality, hologram and other technologies with webinars from world-class faculty and peers

This will enhance research collaboration of trainees powered by AI. Given the nature of the collaborations across geographies and cultures expected for this project, there will be integration  and use of VR or hologram technology to enhance collaboration experience.

Comprehensive Cancer

Center in the Cloud (C4)

for community and sustainable global collaborations powered by technology

Cloud With Ladder

The AMPERE program funding includes support for establishing an online collaboration platform called a Comprehensive Cancer

Center in the Cloud (C4) to catalyze collaborations across different sites and

beyond the training period. The C4 will have 4 CORE (Care, Outreach, Research,

and Education) apps to enhance collaborations in these areas. The platform will link and allow trainees to access content from anywhere in the world and collaborate or

share knowledge.

AMPERE Workshops

Woman Leading Presentation

Yearly AMPERE workshops will focus on knowledge and experience sharing, trainee research poster presentations, and networking with partners from different cultural backgrounds. The workshops will also provide opportunities to actively engage, and recruit trainees interested in global health and oncology careers.

The yearly workshops during the Global Health Catalyst summit will provide opportunities for AMPERE trainees to learn about global cancer challenges, with presentations from experts in low- and middle-income countries. They will also create space for researchers to collaborate on developing funding proposals aimed at addressing resource limitations and fostering long-term international partnerships beyond the scope of this project.

The workshops will include a 1-day leadership training program covering topics such as: leading innovation; problem-solving; conflict resolution; navigating change; leadership development; project planning and delegation; and building trust and respect in collaborative environments
