Mission

The goal of the AMPERE is to train an elite cadre of next-

generation AAPM AMPERE fellows and leaders, empowered to pursue impactful careers in global health.

Expected outcomes include the production of hundreds of conference abstracts and peer-reviewed publications,

the establishment of the AMPERE platform to enhance cross-institutional and cross-cultural collaboration,

increased visibility of the importance of medical physics in global health, and the attraction of new funding

sources to sustain USA–LMIC collaborations beyond the duration of this project.

AMPERE Fellows will be selected via a rigorous selection process to participate in a co-mentored

projects and education with collaborators in LMIC. Examples of research areas identified from needs assessment

include work in artificial intelligence (AI), telehealth (remote quality assurance and treatment planning),

development of cost-effective technologies and approaches to increase access to radiotherapy, diagnostic

imaging, nuclear imaging, and implementation research.
